Our Methodology

How We Evaluate Credit Cards

Every credit card on GlobeCreditCards is evaluated using the same framework, regardless of affiliate relationships. We assess cards across five dimensions:

1. Value (40%)

We calculate the real-world annual value of a card based on typical spending patterns. This includes sign-up bonuses (amortised over 3 years), ongoing rewards rates, statement credits, and fee waivers minus the annual fee.

2. Fees & Costs (20%)

Annual fees, foreign transaction fees, balance transfer fees, cash advance fees, and penalty APRs. A low-fee card with moderate rewards often beats a high-fee card with generous rewards — and we account for this.

3. Benefits & Perks (20%)

Travel insurance, purchase protection, lounge access, concierge services, hotel status, and other non-monetary benefits. We value these based on what equivalent standalone products would cost.

4. Accessibility (10%)

Minimum credit score requirements, income requirements, and application complexity. A great card that most people can't qualify for has limited value in a broad comparison.

5. User Experience (10%)

Mobile app quality, customer service reputation, digital wallet support, and reporting/analytics features. We test these firsthand whenever possible.
